Crittenton Arrested at John Wayne Airport for Alleged Murder
Eimiller continued to say that he was booked into the Los Angeles Police Department jail and held on charges of being a fugitive from justice. Some of you may remember back in February of last year, when Crittenton and fellow Wizards teammate Gilbert Arenas were suspended by the NBA after bringing handguns into the locker room, allegedly to settle a gambling dispute.
This time, Crittenton, only 23, will be questioned regarding the August 19 fatal shooting of Julian Jones, a 22-year-old mother of four, said the FBI website. Apparently she died from multiple gunshot wounds from what’s known as a “drive-by shooting” when walking with two men, as reported by the Associated Press, quoting Carlos Campo, a spokesman for the Atlanta Police. Campo also told the Associated Press that the motive for the shooting seems to be retaliation for an April robbery in which Crittenton was the victim. The plot thickens…
But of course, Crittenton is innocent, says his lawyer Brian Steel. He is quoted as saying that Crittenton “offered to turn himself in,” although when you’re arrested at the airport, it’s hard to see how that might be the case. The former NBA player will face the courts in Los Angeles before being transferred to Atlanta, Eimiller said, but the date for that appearance has not been set at this time.
It is our country’s law that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, so Crittenton, formerly of our beloved Los Angeles Lakers at the start of his career, should only be seen as such.
