Here in America, murder is not only against the law, it’s against our moral code. There’s no justification for cold-blooded murder in our court system. And here we have the case of Jason Balcom, now in the penalty phase of his trial for the rape and stabbing of Malinda Godfrey Gibbons in 1988.

Yesterday, two girls from Willard Elementary School allegedly got into a fight over a boy in an alleyway off Anaheim Street in Long Beach. Law enforcement officers say that the fight lasted less than a minute and that no weapons were used, yet officials also say that Joanna Ramos, one of the two fighting girls, suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. Last Friday afternoon as he sat in his car, the driver of a 2002 Infiniti Q45 was approached by three men wearing bandannas over their faces. According to Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, the men were armed with knives and threatened the driver in order to make him leave his car. Continue reading
At 8:20 p.m. Tuesday night, 9-1-1 received a call from a person reporting that a man had jumped from bushes as they arrived home, and that the man was her mother’s ex-husband trying to abduct their 4-year-old son.
As if that wasn’t enough, the caller reported that the attacker was a member of a white supremacist group, an MMA fighter and Public Enemy Number One. The police responded to the call with sirens and flashing lights to the Laguna Canyon residence after identifying the man as Darryl James Mason, 42, of Huntington Beach. Continue reading

Teaching is not a job. but a vocation, they say. Many people would not, and do not, take on the extreme responsibility of teaching children. Yet for some people, it seems to be a perfect way to be near youngsters for reasons other than teaching.
We know that there’s a great number of fantastic teachers out there, doing their best with state budget cuts and mandatory testing. Itzcoatl Ocampo was indicted by the Orange County Grand Jury yesterday on six serial murder charges. Ocampo, a Marine Iraq war veteran, has been charged with the four unprovoked stabbing deaths of four homeless men and, in addition, the stabbing deaths of a Yorba Linda woman and her son in an October attack last year.
